Recipe for a Family
- Respect everyone equally and fairly.
- Challenging perception and moving away from ‘stereotyping’.
- Encourage respect for other people.
Give children an acceptance that other people having different beliefs, families to oneself (or having none) should be accepted and should not be the cause of prejudicial or discriminatory behaviour.
Once all children have filled in their segment, they then discuss their ideas and reach a group consensus.
NB- If time allows, create an example map together, a good topic is ‘Weekends are for…’ as children will often list a wide range of activities they do and you can come to the consensus of ‘hobbies’ rather than football, dancing, horse riding etc.
